Safety at Hangout
Hangout connects you with people nearby. A few habits keep every meetup safe — here's what we ask of you, and what we do on our end.
1. Meet in Public
Choose a public place for your first meetup — a café, park, gym, or study space — and stay there for the whole activity. Avoid private homes or secluded spots until you know someone well.
2. Share Your Plan
Before you go, tell a friend or family member who you're meeting, where, and when. Screenshot the host or attendee's profile from the app so you have a record of who you agreed to meet.
3. How to Report
If someone makes you uncomfortable, doesn't show up, or violates community guidelines, tell us right away:
- In an emergency: Contact local emergency services first. Hangout is not a substitute for police or medical response.
- Everything else: Email our safety desk at raj.harshit960@gmail.com with the person's name/profile, the activity, and what happened. Include screenshots where you can.
4. Response SLA
We acknowledge every safety report within 24 hours and aim to resolve it — including suspending an account where warranted — within 72 hours. Reports involving an immediate safety risk are prioritized ahead of this window.
5. Grievance Officer
For anything our safety desk doesn't resolve to your satisfaction, or for data-protection grievances under the DPDP Act, 2023, reach our named Grievance Officer directly:
