Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026. Please read these terms carefully before hosting or joining community hangouts.
1. Acceptance of Terms
Hangout is a location-based social facilitation tool. By creating an account, hosting activities, or submitting requests to join activities organized by others, you agree to comply with these terms, safety guidelines, and our community rules.
2. User Conduct & Safe Proximity
Hangout facilitates real-world meetups. You acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety when interacting in-person with strangers. To ensure a safe community, you agree:
- Not to engage in harassment, bullying, stalking, hate speech, or inappropriate solicitation.
- Not to misrepresent your identity, age, or verification status.
- To host and join hangouts in public locations (cafes, public parks, open gyms) for safety.
3. The Accountability & No-Show Policy
Because spontaneous coordination relies on mutual reliability, the platform implements strict accountability rules:
- Join Commitments: If you request to join a hangout and the host approves your spot, you commit to showing up at the scheduled date and time.
- No-Shows Deductions: If you fail to attend an approved hangout without cancellation, hosts may report you as a no-show. A confirmed no-show event immediately subtracts 10 points from your Reliability Score and logs a strike.
- Strikes & Banning: Accumulating 3 strikes results in an automatic 7-day account suspension. Repeated suspensions or severe policy reports trigger permanent device-level blacklisting.
4. Ratings, Feedback & Reputation
Users rate matched hangout partners. These ratings are aggregated dynamically to update public Reliability Scores. You agree that the scores and community feedback represent subjective member ratings and Hangout is not liable for changes in score levels. Retaliatory ratings or rating circles are strictly prohibited and will result in score resets and strikes.
5. Device-Level Enforcement & Moderation
We reserve the right to moderate, suspend, or terminate accounts. In cases of safety concern reports or ban evasion, we calculate device-level hardware signatures (device fingerprinting). Any device associated with a permanently banned profile will be blocked from accessing platform API endpoints.
